New technology continues to drive how we practice dentistry. The most current waves are (1) implant digital workflow and (2) periodontal and implant microsurgery. The University of Michigan School of Dentistry proudly presents a course with two hands-on modules, Implant Digital Workflow (Module 1) and Periodontal and Implant Microsurgery (Module 2). This course is flexible enough that you may attend module 1, module 2, or take the both modules together. Module 1 Implant digital workflow provides seamless treatment planning, surgical execution, and implant restoration. How to interpret cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), registering CBCT with optical scanning images, and master interface software are keys to embrace digital workflow. Participants of Module 1 will spend considerable time designing implant surgical guides, familiarizing with 3D printing and immediate temporalization. Key points for selection of current products/devices for digital workflow will be discussed. Learning Objectives of Module 1 • Update the current knowledge about digital workflow and basic principles • Get familiar with digital images and processing for digital planning • Practice surgical guide and restoration fabrication ,Learning Methods of Module 1 • Lectures to review current knowledge and gain perspectives on digital workflow • Fundamental hands-on excises on imaging acquisition, processing and guide/restoration fabrication ,Module 2 Application of microscope is a path leading to precise surgeries. Microscope assisted operating procedures, by maximizing visual acuity and illumination, have the potential to enhance outcomes and increase predictability of results. Participants attending Module 2 will engage in plenty of practical exercises, i.e. table-top and pig jaw exercises, that will enable them to apply microsurgical principles and techniques in their daily clinical activities. The unique office tour and live surgery observation will greatly enhance participants’ experience in how microsurgery is performed in daily practice. ,Learning Objectives of Module 2 • Update the current knowledge about periodontal microsurgery • Get familiar with microscope and microsurgical armamentarium • Practice surgical techniques, e.g. soft and hard tissue management, with microscope ,Learning Methods of Module 2 • Lectures to review current knowledge and gain perspectives on microsurgery • Fundamental table-top exercises to build essential microsurgery skills • Advanced cadaver animal models, e.g. pig jaw to enhance microsurgery skills • Live surgery observation to experience practical microsurgery workflow
